On the 24th March 2016, Secondary pupils at Dunstable Campus treated the staff, parents and Trustees to another outstanding and thoroughly enjoyable music concert. The audience were taken on a musical journey listening to an array of songs from the Sacred to the Popular. The Junior Choir (Year 7 and 8) were up first and certainly didn’t disappoint in opening the show as well as setting the scene and the standard with their beautiful rendition of Becki Slagle Mayo’s Candle of Hope. The Senior Choir (Year 9, 10 and 11) swiftly followed with Craig Courtney’s The Yearning. With its emotive and sincere lyrical message, complemented by the stunning harmonic features, the audience were certainly moved by such a dedicated performance. We then took a break from the Choral numbers and welcomed one of the in-house bands, Chat 7, who filled the hall with their interpretations of One Direction’s Steal My Girl and Miley Cyrus’s Wrecking Ball. It’s always great to see the pupils collaborating together, doing it with success and, without question, the essence of fun! The Sixth Form Choir continued on with the ‘Pop’ theme with their Fleetwood Mac medley. This consisted of I Don’t Want to Know, Dreams and Don’t Stop. The pupils enjoyed putting the medley together and certainly embraced each song with focus and attention to detail bearing in mind they were singing three classic numbers. Finally the concert was brought to a close, in true traditional style, where the entire Secondary came together as one to perform The Beauty of the Earth by John Rutter, a piece specifically chosen by our head Mr Toby Nutt. Again the audience were blown away by the delivery of such an inspirational song. The entire event was a huge success as always and the pupils, once again, stepped it up to another level. Under the direction of Mrs Nicky Stewart, accompanied by Mr Andy Jackson and compered by Deputy Head Boy and Girl, Tom Stedman and Ketsia Chattell, the Spring Concert 2016 will be one to remember. We now look forward to and begin rehearsals for our Summer Concert which will take place at The Grove Theatre, Dunstable.
